Founder’s Letter

A Career Choice or a Choice Career?

I have always had a passion for working and after so many years, having a career continues to bring me tremendous satisfaction and the greatest sense of accomplishment.

Along the way, I’ve had phenomenal opportunities offered me like being asked to follow several bosses to new jobs when they were promoted.  Another amazing milestone was working as a consultant for an IT firm in another state.  I’ve also had the pleasure of working for several international companies.

There have also been some second guesses – Like the time I took on a new exciting job and was laid-off with 100 other people two months into being hired.  I did not see that coming!  I wrote the “Coping Strategies…” article during this time.

Sometimes, career development wasn’t about my choices, but rather about navigating lifestyle changes or biding my time until my next career opportunity came along.  There were some re-deployments, some floating time and a few bosses who left unexpectedly among other upsets and drama that took my focus completely off my desired career path.  Sometimes I laughed AND cried all in the same day.

So many career choices are fueled by the necessity of livelihood, not desirous ambition.   A good career choice means success and quality of life.  A poor choice could lead to a lack of purpose and personal backsliding.

Examples of career choice are seen when successful individuals give up professional practices to join modest and less profitable organizations in search of personal fulfillment.  Or, when an ordinary person, out of frustration, designs some gadget in order to gain more personal time only to become an overnight success in his or her new business.

What we know is that all job and career experiences are significant and behind every milestone is a story worth sharing.  At CWW, we encourage workers, job seekers and career changers at every level to start building better careers.

In the spirit of sharing
